Last month, Our Pearls embarked on a transformative journey to Ocho Rios, #Jamaica, and the results were nothing short of incredible! Together with the Northeast Regional Health Authority of the Jamaican Ministry of Health and the Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, we contributed to 8 of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) and achieved remarkable outcomes — transforming lives and futures.
Here's a glimpse of some of our impact:
🍲 Provided meals for more than 700 individuals, addressing persistent hunger.
🩺 Conducted comprehensive back-to-school medicals and screenings for 300+ students, including glucose and blood pressure tests, immunizations, vision screenings, and eye exams.
🎒 Equipped 400+ students with fully stocked backpacks for success.
💰 Funded 75 savings accounts in collaboration with the local credit union, fostering financial empowerment.
🖥️ Provided essential tech tools, including 11 laptops and 2 tablets, to 13 students.
🌟 Inspired countless others to create positive change wherever they go.
At Our Pearls for Girls, we go beyond addressing immediate needs; we're Preparing and Empowering Achievers, Rising Leaders, and Scholars. We're combating poverty, breaking down barriers, and unlocking the transformative power of lived experiences so girls and women across the globe can shine. Together, we ensure that potential always outshines poverty. Join us in this journey of empowerment and change. 🌎💎
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the individuals and organizations who contributed to the success of this event, including my former colleagues at UKG, the NFBPA - National Forum for Black Public Administrators, Counsel General Oliver Mair, Dr. Sonia Copeland, friends, and the Board of Directors of Our Pearls for Girls. Your support has been invaluable, and we could not have achieved this without you!
